Scary events in the lives of young children can impact their emotional and physical well-being. Distressing world events, violence depicted in the media, racial injustices, and personal traumatic experiences signal to children that their world is not safe. Knowing how to support young children through unsettling times can be a struggle for adults. When adults recognize children’s responses to traumatic events and are prepared to have conversations with children, as well as take action about what young children are experiencing, they can answer questions, provide support, and offer reassurance. This course will look at how scary events impact young children, how children react, and how adults can support young children during scary times.

*Fully Automated: These classes do not offer feedback from an instructor unless you complete the extra credit activity. They are graded automatically and your certificate is available immediately upon the course being successfully completed.
