STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering and math. Although STEM represents four separate disciplines, the field of early childhood takes an integrated approach to STEM learning. Loose parts are everyday open-ended materials that can be used to promote STEM learning. Incorporating loose parts in the early childhood environment offers engaging opportunities for children to explore the world around them, enhancing STEM curriculum.
