The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the impact of early experience and caregiving from birth to age 2, typical developmental expectations, and how the two factors impact what a childcare provider may experience when a new two-year-old enters their care. Vignettes (stories) of real children, in real families, entering childcare will be provided to illustrate some of the possibilities caregivers will experience when two-year-old children enter care for the first time. Strategies for helping families and childcare providers navigate the unpredictable, tumultuous twos will also be provided.
